GLOBAL IMPACT DAY 2018 - ETHIOPIA REFORESTATION PROJECT BY AlMaghrib Impact
Jabir (radi Allahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “When a Muslim plants a tree, whatever is eaten from it is charity from him and whatever is stolen is charity and whatever is subtracted from it is charity.”
Another narration says: “If a Muslim plants a tree, or sows a field and men and beasts and birds eat from it, all of it is charity from him.”
This Hadith highlights the importance of gardening and agriculture. It is also one of the merits of these two occupations that if someone patiently bears the loss that he suffers due to pilferage or theft of their produce, he is rewarded for it.
And Allah Knows Best!
This tree planting project links environmental restoration with income generation, providing the local community with the knowledge and tools to conserve their land, protect their water supply, and create a sustainable, diverse economy for future generations. It focuses on the Loka Bedelcha Kebele in Southern Ethiopia: an area where environmental degradation is threatening livelihoods and biodiversity. The area is challenged by a dry and unpredictable climate, as well as poor soil fertility, ineffective land management practices, and lenient resource regulations.
